WP5: DISSEMINATION

The project dedicates WP5 to the description of the actions that are intended to be implemented for the dissemination of the project goals achieved. In particular, three Thematic Symposiums included in International Conferences will be organized in order to present the most interesting results of the present research project. Each Thematic Symposium also aims to: - create an international forum for academics, researchers and scientists in order to worldwide discuss results and proposals regarding the most important issues related to fracture and failure of nanostructures; - increase public awareness that nanomaterials in civil engineering play a vital role in our lives due to their unique mechanical, thermal and electrical properties and wide range of applications. Moreover, two Special Issues/year on International Journals (i.e. “Composites Part B: Engineering” and “Materials”) will be organized in order to present the most interesting results of the research project. The Special Issues also aim to: - provide a forum for the prompt publication of original researches related to nanocomposites as construction materials; - cover a wide range of critical topics concerning the use of nanomaterials in the civil construction industry. In order to present a summary of the project, giving info on its key components and presenting a selection of its findings, a website will be built and periodically updated. The website will be linked to an open access repository, in order to upload the results of the research. Finally, the proposed project will result in the drafting of a guideline on reliable applications of nanomaterials and nanocomposites in civil engineering. In particular, such a guideline will collect a critical classification and characterization of approaches and methods already adopted in manufacturing processes of nanotechnology. The purpose of the guideline is to provide an aid for practitioners interested in the emerging uses of nanomaterials and nanocomposites in civil engineering. The project goals of the Research Unit of UNISA are presented in Part C where the related object and methodology used are specified for each goal and for each semester.

SubWP 5.1 – INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCES

T5.1.1 The most interesting results of the research project will be presented at the Thematic Symposium entitled “Modelling of fracture and failure of nanostructures” included in CP2021 International Conference; T5.1.2 The most interesting results of the research project will be presented at the Thematic Symposium entitled “Multi-scale modelling of nanocomposites” included in MECHCOMP7 International Conference; T5.1.3 The most interesting results of the research project will be presented at the Thematic Symposium entitled “Microstructure versus Flaw: Mechanisms of Failure and Strength in Nanostructures” included in ECF23 International Conference. Other Thematic Symposiums will be selected during the course of the project.

SubWP 5.2 – SPECIAL ISSUES – INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL

T5.2.1 The most interesting results of the research project related to WP2 and WP4 will be collected in the Special issue series (1 issue/year): “The impact of nanocomposites in construction engineering” published on “Composites Part B: Engineering”, an international journal; T5.2.2 The most interesting results of the research project related to WP1 and WP3 will be collected in the Special issue series (1 issue/year): “Nanomaterials in civil constructions” published on “Materials”, an international journal.

SubWP 5.3 – WEBSITE

T5.3.1-T5.3.2 A website, containing a summary of the project, info on its key components, a selection of its findings and an open access repository, will be created.

SubWP 5.4 – GUIDELINES

T5.4.1 A guideline will be drafted for reliable applications of nanomaterials and nanocomposites in civil engineering.
