Biographical sketch

Paolo Lonetti is Associate Professor of Structural Mechanics in the Department of Civil Engineering (DINCI) at the University of Calabria (UNICAL, Italy). He received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Civil Engineering in 1998 from the University of Calabria, Cosenza, Italy. In 1999-2000, 2002, and 2006, he worked as Visiting Scientist and Visiting Ph.D. student at the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering of the West Virginia University (USA). In 2003, he received a Ph.D. degree in Material and Structural Engineering from the University of Calabria. From 2005 to 2011, he served as Assistant Professor of Structural Engineering at the University of Calabria and since 2011 he became Associate Professor of Structural Engineering in the same University. He is Vicar Coordinator of ‘Architecture and Building Engineering”, Member of Board of Research Doctorate on ‘Environmental, Construction and Energy Sciences and Engineering’ and Member of the Editorial Boards of several peer-review international journals. He has participated in various research projects funded by the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MIUR). Most of his research work concerns damage in composite structures, delamination modeling in laminated structures, homogenization techniques for composite structures, multiscale approaches, long span bridges, moving loads, dynamic fracture, fluid-structure interaction.
